Child Enrichment Center Overview
Our Child Enrichment Center (CEC) started in the 2004-2005 school year. Just as All Saints began 50 years ago with a small class of 13, we successfully transformed a backroom work area of the library into an active learning environment for that same number of three year olds. Currently, the class boasts 14 little saints who have moved into a spacious, permanent room in the Calcoate Library. Teacher, Kelly Jones and her Instructional Assistant, Lana Scully created an age appropriate setting where the three year olds defined the main job of their teachers as "to hug us everyday".
The low student-to-teacher ratio creates a well-supervised environment and an intimate teacher/child relationship. The children in the CEC enjoy a wide range of activities in the three-day-a-week program with periods of art, music, science, story telling, physical education, block building and outdoor play. The home-like environment provides warmth and plenty of materials encouraging creative, imaginative play.
We recognize the incredible gift we have at All Saints to involve parents in the learning process. Our three year olds are continuously surrounded by 'big kids' and parents whom envelop them with enriching experiences at school and out in the community. There is no doubt this program will continue to blossom. We already have a waiting list for the 2008-2009 school year. Our smallest friends have brightened our days in many ways, and we are glad to have the program back at All Saints after many years.
